[Branch Glossary | Spring] Cornelian Cherry (Cornus officinalis)
Hello everyone.
SiKiTO's "Branch Regular Delivery" service provides the best branches selected by professionals, depending on the weather and purchasing conditions at the time.
The branch we are introducing today is Sanshu (Cornelian Cherry).

A deciduous medium-sized tree of the dogwood family Cornaceae.
In early spring, before the leaves emerge, about 30 small yellow flowers gather on every branch to form a beautiful small inflorescence.

It is also known as "Haru Koganebana" (Spring Golden Flower) because the entire inflorescence appears to shine.
Its flower meanings are "persistence" and "endurance." Sanshu is also used as an herbal medicine in nutritional drinks, which may be why it has such powerful flower meanings.

It is popular as a garden tree and park tree, and is often seen in Japanese gardens. After the flowers bloom, it bears red fruit similar to goumi berries in autumn, earning it the nickname "Akisango" (Autumn Coral).
It is one of the flowering trees that announces spring, and is often seen in garden trees, park trees, and Japanese gardens.
Branches with flowers are very delicate. Please take good care of them.
