Sarcandra glabra (Senryo)
Hello everyone.
SiKiTO's "Branch Delivery Service" delivers the best branches selected by professionals, depending on the weather and stock availability at the time.
The branch we are introducing this time is "Senryo" (Sarcandra glabra).

A small evergreen shrub belonging to the genus Sarcandra, family Chloranthaceae.
With its beautiful red and orange berries against evergreen leaves, it's a classic floral material for New Year's decorations.

It was originally called "Senryo" (仙蓼), but it is said that the current characters were adopted during the Edo period.
The reasons given include that it bears fewer berries than Manryo (Ardisia crenata), which also produces red berries, and that the shape of its leaves resembles a koban (oval gold coin).

Due to its abundance of berries, its flower meanings include "profit," "blessed talent," "wealth," and "property."
It's a branch to display with the wish for business prosperity in the new year.
