[Branching plant guide | Autumn] Ilex serrata 'Magical Berry'
Hello everyone.
SiKiTO's "Branch Regular Delivery" service delivers the best branches selected by professionals, depending on the weather and purchasing conditions at the time.
The branch we are introducing this time is "Umemodoki Magical Berry."

It is a deciduous shrub belonging to the genus Ilex in the family Aquifoliaceae. Its native range is Japan and China.
Despite its name, which literally translates to "plum look-alike," it is said to have been named not because it is a type of plum, but because its leaves and branching habit resemble those of a plum tree.

Its flower meanings include "wisdom" and "cheerfulness."
It is said that the flower meaning "wisdom" was given because its seeds sprout after being eaten and excreted by wild birds, allowing them to spread their offspring to distant places.
It blooms in June, and its green fruits turn bright red from September to October.

Ripe berries tend to fall off easily with impact, so please handle them gently when caring for them.
