"Shonan Gold," the phantom orange born in Kanagawa Prefecture

Shonan Gold, known for its exceptionally rich aroma among citrus fruits, is grown in Kanagawa Prefecture, once famous as one of Japan's leading mikan-producing regions.

It took 12 years of trial and error, including crossing over 20 varieties, to achieve both the easy-to-eat quality of a mikan and the vibrant aroma of an orange.

Its average sugar content of 12% is considered sweet enough to be a delicious standard for mikans and peaches.

Since it takes about 5 years for the fruit to bear, it is difficult to obtain even within the prefecture, earning it the nickname "phantom orange."

This beer, luxuriously made with such precious fruit, pairs well with any dish.

When combined with summer fruits like peaches, melons, or mangoes, you can enjoy a refreshing pairing full of seasonal flavor.

Shonan Gold holds a record of winning awards for 10 consecutive years in the Fruit Beer category of the International Beer Cup.

Sankt Gallen, a pioneer of Japanese craft beer

Sankt Gallen, an established brewery based in Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture, has consistently brewed ale beer for over 20 years since its founding.

Its name is derived from the Abbey of Saint Gall in Switzerland, which obtained the world's first brewing license.

Although not widely known, there are two main types of beer brewing methods:

① Lager beer: Brewed using bottom fermentation, resulting in a crisp beer with a smooth finish.

② Ale beer: Brewed using top fermentation, resulting in a fruity aroma.

About 90% of beer distributed in Japan is lager beer. It's perfect for a quick, cold drink on a hot day, and is said to have become popular as an alternative to water in times when plumbing was not yet developed.

Ale beer, on the other hand, is said to have developed as an alternative to wine in regions not suitable for grape cultivation. Its distinctive flavor offers the enjoyment of pairing with various dishes, as well as the charm of its taste changing with temperature.
