Seto-ware double-walled cup with functional beauty

Seto-ware has a tradition of over a thousand years, being one of Japan's leading "Rokko Kilns" (Six Ancient Kilns).

Its white, smooth texture and feel, born from natural pottery stone, is delicate yet stronger than ordinary pottery, imbued with a unique warmth not found in glass or metal.

However, the only weakness of Seto-ware is its high thermal conductivity, which causes the vessel itself to become hot when filled with hot liquids.

The soune cup is a double-walled Seto-ware cup that overcomes this weakness. It is microwave and dishwasher safe.[*]

[*]When using in the microwave, aim for "within 3 minutes" and avoid automatic heating functions or prolonged heating. Also, sudden temperature changes such as rapid cooling or heating can cause damage.

Features of the soune cup

① Not sensitive to temperature

By maintaining the natural texture of Seto-ware while creating a double-walled structure, cold drinks stay cold and hot drinks stay hot[*].

You can slowly savor drinks at the ideal temperature.

[*]Compared to regular ceramics. It does not have the same high heat retention/cold retention as stainless steel tumblers with vacuum insulation.

③ Blends into daily life

We wanted it to be a companion you'd use all the time, so we focused on a design that's easy to hold, easy to drink from, and easy to wash. With a capacity of about 200ml, it's a size that even women can hold comfortably. The ribs (indentations) on the side prevent fingers from slipping.

The thin, rounded rim is pleasant to the touch, and the interior has a curved shape that allows for thorough cleaning.

Four colors to choose from, reflecting the scenes of the four seasons

The matte texture and subdued color palette are the result of repeated prototyping, designed to be impactful without being overly assertive.

We've prepared four colors that enhance the natural texture of Seto-ware while gently blending into any interior.

① Hanagasumi (Misty Cherry Blossoms)

This color reflects the soft, hazy scenery of cherry blossoms in full bloom viewed from a distance.

② Watagumo (Puffy Clouds)

A light white inspired by fluffy clouds floating in the summer sky, this color blends well with any space.

③ Konoha (Tree Leaves)

Inspired by leaves changing color as the seasons deepen. The subdued brown evokes the warmth of nature.

④ Shigure (Winter Rain)

Shigure refers to the light, intermittent rain that falls in early winter. This gentle gray tone evokes a quiet scene covered by rain clouds.
