A visit to "Life with Branches." People and branches alike feel comfortable in a space filled with natural light.

"I'd love to see a home where branches are beautifully displayed!"

In response to requests from many customers, we visited and interviewed wonderful customers who live comfortably with seasonal branches in their homes.

INTERVIEW 1
Mr. Hoshi, Representative of LATTE GRAPHIC

Mr. Hoshi, who operates cafes both domestically and internationally, is a childhood friend of SiKiTO's representative, Sato. He is also a regular user of our branch subscription service and has served as co-representative of SiKiTO CAFE since last year.

Mr. Hoshi, who has close ties with SiKiTO both personally and professionally, lives about a 20-minute walk from a terminal station lined with commercial facilities. His home is surrounded by nature, with a river and a park nearby.

Upon reaching the second floor, the first thing that catches your eye is the large window stretching from the living room to the kitchen!

Plenty of pleasant natural light streams in, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding nature. He can observe the changing colors of the leaves from spring to autumn, and the trees shedding their leaves in winter, on a daily basis.

He incorporates the shifting scenery of the seasons into his daily life as a borrowed landscape.

He used to live in an apartment near the station, but discovered this plot of land during his daily jog and immediately purchased it. The custom-built house, which he said he "was too particular about," took a year and a half to complete. Shortly after moving into this space, which he was extremely satisfied with, he introduced decorative branches.

The cafes run by Mr. Hoshi always feature art and plants. "When these two elements come together, the space becomes comfortable for both customers and me. So, I decided to do the same for my home."

Behind the branches on the dining table, the greenery beyond the window overlaps. The types of trees in this area are limited, for example, there are no cherry blossoms. That's why seasonal branches displayed indoors are an important part of the interior, bringing a sense of the season.

He used to find watering houseplants once a week bothersome, but now he's surprised at how often he changes the water for the branches, as if he were making coffee.

INTERVIEW 2
Shiho Takano & Shuhei Takano, Office Workers / Photographers

This is the home of the Takano family, who live in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Branches are mainly displayed in the living room, and on the day we visited, there were branches in four vases. Furthermore, numerous houseplants were basking comfortably in the sun by the window.

Shiho works as an office worker while also freelancing as a photographer, capturing portraits and landscapes. When natural light streams into the living room, she turns her camera to the branches.

In fact, Shiho's encounter with SiKiTO was through the many beautiful photos of branches she posted on Instagram.

Organic and irregular light and shadow appear in a space filled with plants and natural light.

The photos, which deliberately focus on the dappled light rather than the branches themselves, give the impression of capturing the temperature and humidity of that very moment.

Even their post-bloom appearance, when viewed through the lens, reveals the story and beauty of tiny lives.

The impetus for incorporating branches into their lives was a creative effort when photographing sweets Shuhei makes as a hobby.

She started by adding a cherry blossom branch when photographing agar jelly containing salted cherry blossoms, and gradually thought about decorating her home with them. She told us that cherry blossoms are still her favorite branches.

She also mentioned that incorporating branches into her life led to new discoveries. For example, the way the leaf colors change with the seasons. Noticing the shift from pale green in early summer to deep green in mid-summer, she now feels the changing seasons through plants even when taking a stroll through town.

She told us that large branches are now in the living room, while smaller cuttings are placed on Shuhei's desk, meaning there are branches all over their home. Hearing about her diligent care, such as misting the leaves, painted a picture of her long-lasting appreciation for a single branch, filling us with happiness.

The gentle impression of her photos surely reflects Shiho's personality.

We hope to continue bringing peaceful joy to their lives.

How was this interview? In both homes, we saw branches with vibrant expressions in spaces filled with abundant light. You can display branches without worrying about sunlight, but natural light is recommended for photography!

Both interviewees told us that by incorporating branches into their lives, they became more aware than ever of the changing plants and nature with the seasons. It's a truly enriching moment to casually gaze at street trees, find familiar plants in neighborhood gardens, or notice changes in the products displayed at a flower shop.

Mr. Hoshi and the Takano family, thank you for your cooperation despite your busy schedules!
