[Behind the Scenes of Our Seasonal Branch Delivery] From Our Farm to Your Home

Bringing the Seasons to Your Life with "Branch Decor."
A Behind-the-Scenes Look from Sourcing to Shipping.

Hello. I'm Sumi, in charge of operating the Branch Decor Subscription service.

In this letter, I'd like to introduce what we do to deliver branch decor to you in the best possible condition.

① Sourcing

There are multiple flower markets in Tokyo, where we are based, including Ota, Setagaya, and Adachi.

The branches we currently deliver through our "Branch Decor Subscription" are sourced from major markets in the Kanto region, such as Ota, Setagaya, Itabashi, and Kasai, as well as the Naniwa Flower Market in Kansai.

On the day of the interview, we went to the Ota Market!

At the market, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are called "Hyobi" (market days), and we do our sourcing particularly on Mondays and Fridays when purchasing is most active.

② Inspection & Water Absorption Treatment

On this day in early August, the four types of branches we sourced were "Asebi," "Unryu Yanagi" (Dragon Willow), "Doudan Tsutsuji" (Enkianthus perulatus), and "Sekka Yanagi" (Flowering Quince).

Once the branches arrive at our workshop from the market, we carefully inspect each one and perform water absorption treatment. After recutting the base, we split the stems or peel the bark to help them absorb water more easily.

Is the condition of the branches good? Are there any insects? We inspect all the way to the back of the leaves.

We thoroughly check the delicate branch tips! Any darkened parts are trimmed and tidied up.

After inspection, we assemble sets, considering the unique balance of each branch.

Furthermore, for plans around 100cm, we wrap cushioning material to prevent water leakage during transport.

Once these steps are completed, the branches are allowed to absorb water thoroughly for half a day to a full day.

The workshop, covered in summer branches, resembles a forest.

③ Packaging & Shipping (approx. 100cm plan)

After inspection and water absorption, it's time for packaging and shipping.

First, each set is wrapped in craft paper.

The reason we wrap them in craft paper is to protect the branches from friction during transit and prevent fallen leaves from dirtying your home. It also makes them look like a lovely bouquet, adding to the "gift" feel.

Finally, a plastic bag containing water with nutrients is attached to keep the branches fresh during transit.

To prevent water leakage, we wrap them in multiple layers of cling film. We arrived at this method after trying various water leakage prevention techniques.

We apologize for the extra effort required to unwrap them, but we would be grateful for your understanding as it helps us deliver fresh branches to you.

After inserting the paper introducing the floral materials and a seasonal information leaflet, we finally place them in a cardboard box for shipping.

"May we deliver the pleasant changes of the seasons to our customers!"
