[Vase specifically for branches] The design and arrangement of the EDA VASE

Hello, I'm Shibagaki, a designer at SiKiTO, and I'm in charge of the EDA VASE.

The EDA VASE, which is so popular that it often sells out, can firmly support large branches up to about 180cm.

Generally, to display long branches, it was necessary to pour plenty of water into a large, stable vase, which meant the hassle of carrying a large, heavy vase every time the water needed changing.

"Easily display large branches."

With this in mind, we created a simple structure where a rod extends from a heavy base to support branches, with a compact base for easy water changes.

It's a product that re-integrates the functions of a single large vase (stability, support, water container) by dividing them into multiple parts.

It received the "red dot design award 2022 product design," known as one of the world's top three design awards, and is evaluated by global standards.

The basic way to use it is to lean the branches against the ring part of the steel rod.

Here are a few easy arrangement ideas unique to the EDA VASE for branches.

① When the position of the branches doesn't feel right

The charm of branches is that they look good even when arranged roughly, but if the balance isn't quite right, how about shifting the support point of the branches by using a "trick" to fix a stick in the ring part?

This idea is inspired by techniques in the art of flower arranging called "Ichimonji-dome" and "Jumonji-dome."

② When you want to fix branches in your preferred direction or position

Depending on the shape and center of gravity, branches may not stay in the desired direction or position. In such cases, it's fine to tie the ring and the branches together with string or similar. This will fix their position and achieve the silhouette you envision.

③ When there is variation in branch lengths

When combining branches of various lengths, use the outside of the ring effectively to balance the overall arrangement. It's easier to create a beautiful arrangement by placing each branch one by one, mindful of which side will be the front.

 None of the arrangement ideas introduced here are difficult.
