[The Four Seasons and I] A stationery store run by an owner who grew up in this town, loved by the community.

Here is a user interview from around the summer of 2025, when we were delivering refreshing foliage.

We asked a community-based stationery store how branches are used to create their space.

Stationery Store 42 Owner
Ms. Goto

I run a stationery store in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo.

I've lived in this town my entire life, and originally, my grandfather and father ran a dental clinic here.

I, who had been a full-time housewife since marriage, decided to take over this place and open a stationery store, something I've loved since I was a child.

The store opened 10 months after I made the decision, and it's been about 3 years since then. The "42" in the store name is my age at the time.

Since there are no other stationery stores around here, many local residents and students frequently visit us.

Sometimes they tell us, "Thank you for opening here, please keep it going," and it's a wonderful town with great customers.

I asked a mom friend who works in design to do the interior, and some of the furniture, like the drawers in the store, are from the dental clinic era. My father asks, "Why would you deliberately use old things?" but I think they're retro and cute. Our customers also love them.

The large table in the center of the store is where I arrange branches, and greenery like the currently displayed Enkianthus subtly enhances the stationery. For me, who isn't good with plant care, branches that require little maintenance are perfect.

Even when the next subscription arrives, if the old ones are still lively, I sometimes arrange them together or display them again at home. Having plants around is calming.

As a local shop, we not only carry stationery that I like but also stationery requested by customers.

I want to strive to stay up-to-date. To do that, I want to value conversations with customers and young people.

During the interview, there were moments when she skillfully handled branches.
Seeing the branches arranged near Ms. Goto, who continues to take on challenges, made us happy!
The video featuring her is also available on YouTube as part of the "Shiki to Watashi" series. Please feel free to watch it.
Thank you for your cooperation despite your busy schedule!
