Basic care for branches and decorative foliage
Popular branches like enkianthus, eucalyptus, and Japanese andromeda last longer than cut flowers and bring a touch of the season into your home.
Branches can instantly transform your interior just by being placed in a vase, making them ideal for anyone who wants to introduce more greenery into their home.

This article introduces basic care methods essential for a life with branches.
Some branches may require more diligent care depending on the season and type of material.
We hope you can enjoy the time spent caring for your branches as a moment to connect with them.
Basic Care
1. Recutting upon receipt

Upon receiving your branches, recut them before arranging them in a vase.
Making a cross-shaped cut at the base and stripping off some of the bark will help them absorb water more easily.
Branches can be tired from transport, so it's recommended to place them in water with a preservative.
2. Displaying in a comfortable location for branches

Branches prefer a well-ventilated, cool place away from direct sunlight and air conditioning drafts.
Sun exposure is not a concern, so displaying them in bedrooms or washrooms is also recommended.
3. Frequent water changes

Change the water frequently before it becomes cloudy. Recutting the stems at this time will also help them absorb water better.
If there's any slime, gently rub it off with your hand.
4. "Leaf misting" is also important care

Misting the leaves with a spray bottle allows them to absorb moisture, keeping them fresh and vibrant.
5. Removing parts that are past their prime

Regularly remove flowers and leaves that are past their prime. This not only maintains their appearance but also helps water reach the healthy parts more easily.
When your branches are not looking well...
1. Hot water treatment

If your branches are struggling to absorb water through normal methods, "hot water treatment (yuage)" might be effective.
Soaking the cut ends of the branches in hot water for 20-30 seconds sterilizes the cut surface and helps remove air from within the branches.
By placing them in water immediately after the air is expelled, they will absorb water rapidly.
① Remove unnecessary leaves from the part that will be submerged in water. Wrap the branches with newspaper or similar material to protect them.
② Immediately before hot water treatment, recut the stems with sharp scissors.
③ Dip the cut ends into hot water for 20-30 seconds, then place them in lukewarm water. Recut any discolored parts again.
2. Cut them short and enjoy them in smaller arrangements

As time passes, it becomes increasingly difficult for branches to absorb water. In such cases, a good solution is to boldly cut them into shorter pieces.
Shorter pieces absorb water more easily, and their smaller appearance can also be refreshing.
If the condition does not improve after these measures, please contact us via chat with a photo within approximately 3 days of delivery (or approximately 7 days for flowers delivered in bud stage).
After reviewing the condition, we will consider a replacement.
