July's Scent: A fragrance to dispel the stifling heat

With record-breaking heat continuing year after year, some of you may already be feeling exhausted before summer even officially begins.

July's scent is a blend of clear "lemon," refreshing "peppermint" and "rosemary cineole" that clear the nasal passages, and a gently elegant floral-citrus "palmarosa," designed to provide a moment of respite from the heat.

In addition to "cineole," rosemary essential oil also has chemotypes like "camphor" and "verbenone."

A chemotype (chemo=chemical, type=type) in essential oils refers to a plant whose aromatic components differ greatly depending on the soil and climate in which it grows, even if it is the same plant.

There's the mild and refreshing cineole, the strong and sharp camphor, and the herbaceous verbenone. Isn't it fascinating how their characteristics change so much depending on their growing environment? Don't you feel a sense of kinship with them as living beings?

Palmarosa essential oil is extracted from the leaves of a grass-family plant. It possesses a dazzling elegance and freshness that one might not expect from its leaf structure, because it contains components similar to rose and geranium.
