[Branch & Bloom Guide | Summer] Dwarf Forsythia

Hello everyone.

With our "Branch Subscription," we deliver the best branches selected by professionals, depending on the weather and sourcing conditions at the time.

The branch we are introducing this time is 'Hime-mizuki' (Spreading Fothergilla).

It is a deciduous shrub belonging to the genus Corylopsis in the witch hazel family. It is also known as "Hyuga-mizuki," but it grows wild not in Hyuga (Miyazaki) but in some rocky areas on the Sea of Japan side, from Ishikawa Prefecture to Hyogo Prefecture.

The gradation of leaf colors, from yellowish-green to green to pale red, is unique to the fresh green season. You can enjoy the contrast between its plump heart shape and wild branching.

Removing leaves that have passed their prime will improve their appearance and make it easier for water to reach the healthy parts.

Fresh green branches tend to absorb less water over time.

When changing the water, always make a fresh cut at the stem end and make a cross-shaped incision with scissors.

"Yugage" (scald treatment) is also effective when water absorption is difficult. Please be careful not to burn yourself.
