[Branch-Flower Guide | Summer] Japanese Snowball (Odemari)

Hello everyone,

With our "Branch Regular Delivery" service, we deliver the best branches selected by professionals, depending on the weather and stock availability at the time.

The branch we are introducing this time is the 'Japanese Snowball (Odemari)' (Viburnum plicatum).

It is a deciduous shrub belonging to the genus Viburnum in the Adoxaceae family, native to Japan.

It is said to be a cultivated variety of Viburnum plicatum f. tomentosum where all florets have developed into sterile showy flowers.

Around early summer, large flowers bloom in clusters resembling temari balls, as its name suggests, changing color from pale green to white.

Its English name is "Japanese Snowball."

During the fresh green season, branches tend to wilt easily, and their ability to absorb water gradually decreases over time, so change the water frequently.

Boiling the cut end of the stem (yubiki) is also effective. Please be careful not to burn yourself.
