This is the second time this year. We're giving children who find it difficult to go out the gift of an "at-home cherry blossom viewing" experience.

This year marks the second iteration of the project, following last year's success.

As last year, with the cooperation of the Certified NPO Florence, an organization dedicated to childcare for children with disabilities and family support, we gifted a total of 100 cut branches of Keiozakura cherry blossoms to 24 families who use Medical Care Sitter Nancy, which supports children's play and learning according to their developmental stage.

This time, a SiKiTO staff member accompanied Florence staff to the home of Rika-chan, a child with Down syndrome who has weak lungs and bronchi from birth and requires daily respiratory management with a ventilator.

For Rika-chan to go out, she needs to prepare a portable ventilator and oxygen tank, load them onto a special stroller, and carry the heavy stroller down the stairs of her home. The effort involved in preparation and movement makes even a simple "stroll around the neighborhood to see the cherry blossoms" difficult.

To allow Rika-chan and her family to enjoy hanami at home, we presented them with branches of cherry blossoms in full bloom.

When Rika-chan saw the cherry blossoms up close, she seemed a little puzzled at first, but then began to reach out her hand to the beautifully blooming petals.

Everyone present was touched by Rika-chan, dressed in a pale pink outfit matching the cherry blossoms, gently trying to touch the petals with her small, lovely hands.

Rika-chan's mother was also delighted, saying, "I didn't think we could have hanami (by going out), so I'm happy to be able to enjoy it at home."

In addition to branches of cherry blossoms in full bloom, Rika-chan was also given branches with many buds that were yet to open. The charm of "at-home hanami" lies in being able to slowly enjoy the sight of the buds swelling and gradually blooming into beautiful flowers.

According to Rika-chan's mother, she rarely has time to learn flower arrangement, which requires knowledge and sensibility, or to care for houseplants that need maintenance.
