[SiKiTO Product Development Report] "Seasonal Scent Subscription Box" for enjoying the seasons with sight and smell

In our daily lives, we feel comfort and richness when we unexpectedly sense the changing seasons.

With the idea of "making such moments more accessible and enjoyable through the five senses," SiKiTO developed a room fragrance based on the concept of "the four seasons."

In October 2023, halfway through the product development process, we held a demo event inviting users of our branch subscription service residing in the Tokyo metropolitan area. At this event, participants tried out prototypes of three new products, including the room fragrance.

The prototypes prepared for the day were all based on the concept of "the four seasons": "flavor water made with seasonal fruits," "seasonal herb bath salts," and "seasonal room fragrance."

We received a wide range of feedback on the design, taste, and scent as participants held and experienced the products, which was extremely helpful for subsequent development.

"Seasonal Fragrance Subscription" Now Available!

The most popular item at the demo event was the seasonal room fragrance.
After further improvements, the "Seasonal Fragrance Subscription" was launched for sale on SiKiTO in April 2024.

We deliver a set of original essential oils blended to match the image of each month, coordinated with dried flowers[*].

This SiKiTO-style fragrance product, which allows you to experience the seasons through scent and sight, has become a perfect item for entertaining guests or relaxing at home.

Bright and vibrant in spring, fresh and invigorating in summer. In autumn and winter, warm the heart and look forward to a new spring.

We held numerous meetings with our perfumer, imagining the feelings and desired comforts of each of the four seasons.

Here is our lineup of early summer essential oils.

● May: A woody scent like passing through trees (Hiba, Tea Tree, Frankincense, Kuromoji)
● June: A refreshing scent that clears away heavy humidity (Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus citriodora, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense)
● July: A refreshing scent that makes you forget the heat and fatigue (Lemon, Peppermint, Rosemary cineole, Palmarosa)

The dried flowers, which literally add beauty to the scent, were supervised by a floral designer who also works on SiKiTO's seasonal products such as Christmas and New Year decorations.

"To make spring's arrival eagerly anticipated," "to provide a sense of coolness even in midsummer," "to bring splendor during the holiday season" - these coordinations were also selected after much trial and error.
