This preconception was overturned by the bonsai from "Ishikiya," who readily agreed to this collaboration.

In fact, bonsai that match modern lifestyles have recently gained attention, and enthusiasts are increasing, especially among young women. Even overseas, "BONSAI" has become a widely understood term as a part of Japanese culture.

The charm of bonsai lies in being able to admire the dynamic changes of the four seasons up close, all within a pot.

Leaves unfurl on a tree growing from a small pot, fruits appear, leaves fall, and eventually flowers bloom. The ever-changing appearance throughout the 365 days is a "miniature garden" in itself.

Caring for Ishikiya's bonsai is surprisingly easy!

Basic care involves just watering every 1-2 days. Throughout the year, place it in a spot with good sunlight and ventilation.

Pruning is done once or twice a year to maintain the tree's shape and encourage new growth. During the spring and autumn growing seasons, liquid fertilizers and other nutrients are also effective.

Arranging several together creates a truly endearing scene.

Pyracantha, whose flower language is "the one and only love"

Pyracantha offers dramatic changes throughout the year, nestled among its light, slender evergreen leaves that resemble wings.

In spring, small white flowers bloom in rows, and from summer to autumn, the fruit changes color from green to red. The appearance of its leaves enduring winter also conveys a sense of resilience.

Not only does it beautifully reflect the changing seasons, but it is also robust, making it a recommended tree species for beginners.

This time, we have prepared a medium size. The combination of the "uguisu" pot color and "biwa" saucer creates an even more charming impression.

② Shinpaku (Juniper)

Naturally growing in limestone mountainous regions across Japan, this is a classic popular tree species in the bonsai world, alongside pines. It is an evergreen with foliage throughout the year, but its leaf tips turn orange from autumn to winter.

Larger ones exude the dignified appearance of "THE Bonsai," while smaller ones have a delicate charm.

③ Tokiwa-Sanzashi (Pyracantha)

Its slender evergreen leaves give a light impression. In spring, small white flowers bloom, and from summer to autumn, the fruit dramatically changes color from green to red.

It is a robust tree species, making it easy to care for even for beginners.

④ Komurasaki (Japanese Beautyberry)

Named after Murasaki Shikibu, Komurasaki bears elegant small purple fruits. Pale purple flowers bloom in spring, and the fruit turns deep purple in autumn.

Even after defoliation, the fruits remain on the branches, allowing you to admire their antique charm in winter.

Ishikiya is a bonsai brand based in Murayama City, Yamagata Prefecture. The SiKiTO representative was captivated by their beautiful and refined bonsai, leading to this collaboration.

All bonsai are carefully cultivated by Ishikiya staff with time and effort.

One of Ishikiya's unique charms is its gently shaped pots, all self-produced.

About 50 original colors are given evocative names such as "Shiraame" (white rain) and "Shinpeki" (deep blue-green).

The "Seasonal Bonsai" collaboration with Ishikiya is planned to be sold for a limited time each season.
