Kotaro Takamura, who loved forsythia, planted this flower in the garden of his atelier. It is said that at his farewell ceremony, held in that atelier beside the flowers he loved, forsythia branches were laid upon his coffin.

From this, April 2nd, the day of Takamura's death, is known as "Rengyo-ki" (Forsythia Memorial Day) and is still commemorated.
