"Sakura Distribution Project" to be implemented

To commemorate the first anniversary of the "Edamono Teikibin" (Branch Delivery Subscription) service, we launched the "Sakura Distribution Project" to provide "at-home cherry blossom viewing" experiences for children with medical care needs who have difficulty going out freely. This project involved providing cherry blossoms free of charge to families utilizing the certified NPO Florence's "Medical Care Sitter Nancy" and other childcare and support services for children with disabilities.

Children requiring medical care and their families

The number of children referred to as "children requiring medical care," who need daily medical care such as suctioning for phlegm or gastric feeding, or respiratory management with a ventilator, has doubled in the last 15 years and is estimated to exceed 20,000.

For these children, the hurdles for going out are often high due to their medical care needs, making it difficult for them to experience the changing seasons outdoors. There is a demand for interactions and therapeutic opportunities that enrich their hearts.

Furthermore, facilities that can care for these children are severely lacking, leading mothers and fathers to bear 24-hour care responsibilities. This places a significant physical and mental burden on the entire family.

At-Home Cherry Blossom Viewing – "Sakura Distribution Project"

The "Edamono Teikibin" (Branch Delivery Subscription) is a popular subscription service from SiKiTO that delivers "branches" to your home, allowing you to feel the changing seasons – blossoming branches in spring, fresh greenery in summer, and fruits in autumn.

In this project, we delivered a total of approximately 100 Keio-zakura cherry blossom branches to 30 families with children receiving medical care at home and 6 facilities, including "Helen," a specialized nursery school for children with disabilities.

[Medical Care Sitter Nancy]

This is a support service for families with disabled children operated by the certified NPO Florence. Nurses visit the homes of children who require medical care such as tracheal suction, enteral nutrition through a gastrostomy, or respiratory management using a ventilator. In addition to medical care, they provide support for play and learning tailored to the child's development.
