Asahiyama Cherry Tree: Powerful Trunk with Magnificent Double-Petaled Blossoms

When it comes to flowers symbolizing spring in Japan, cherry blossoms have always been and continue to be the icon.

The Asahiyama cherry tree, a dwarf variety of the satozakura species, is one of the standard choices for cherry bonsai due to its compact growth.

Around March, its powerful, aged-looking trunk bursts into bloom with large, double-petaled flowers. The delicate pink gradient is so beautiful it makes you sigh with admiration every time you see it.

We are offering a medium-sized tree that fits perfectly in the palm of your hand.

The pot color is "Awayuki" (light snow), paired with a "Biwa" (loquat) saucer, to evoke the image of blossoms blooming amidst sunbeams and lingering snow.

When photographed in early February, the bare branches were laden with flower buds. By the time it reaches you, they might already be tinged with color.

To ensure healthy growth, keeping it exclusively indoors might be a bit risky. Try to keep it in a place with good sunlight and ventilation, and occasionally move it outdoors to help regulate the tree's rhythm.

Especially in winter, exposing it to temperatures below 10-5°C will encourage more flower buds to form.

If you bring it indoors after late winter, it will bloom in approximately 3-4 weeks.

After the flowers, leaves will unfurl, followed by autumn colors and leaf drop, allowing you to enjoy the changing seasons with this tree.

Miyama Kirishima Azalea is a Japanese endemic species of azalea that grows only in volcanic high mountain regions of Kyushu.

It is popular for its small leaves, fine branching, excellent flowering, and hardiness. Its elegant deep pink flowers have a long blooming period and are quite impressive.

② Kometsutsuji (Small size)

Kometsutsuji has tiny leaves like grains of rice. It produces pale purple flowers, lighter than those of Miyama Kirishima.

In winter, its leaves turn red due to the cold, but as a semi-deciduous tree, it doesn't completely lose its leaves. It displays a humble and charming appearance throughout the year.

③ Hakuchoge (Medium size)

Hakuchoge, with its pure white small flowers blooming profusely, has a charming quality that might remind you of childhood treasures.

As an evergreen, its variegated foliage can be enjoyed year-round.

About 50 original colors are given elegant names such as "Hakuu" (white rain) and "Shinpaku" (deep green).
