With its oval leaves and vibrant red berries, the Bearberry cotoneaster is at its peak in winter!
You can enjoy its small white flowers in spring, and watch its berries turn red from summer through winter.
Kamatsuka Kokemomo with adorable oval-shaped leaves
Kamatsuka Kokemomo, adorable with plump berries at the tips of its branches and oval-shaped leaves.
The best time to see it is from December to January, when the berries turn bright red! In spring, you can also enjoy its small white flowers.

This time we have a medium size. The combination of the "Wakakusa" (light green) pot and "Biwa" (loquat) saucer creates an even more charming impression.

It grows vigorously with plenty of sunlight. Even when kept indoors, place it in a bright and well-ventilated location.
Occasionally, expose it to sunlight and wind on a balcony or similar spot to allow it to experience the changing seasons.

Shiki to Bonsai features 7 tree species

The 2025 Winter Shiki to Bonsai collection features 7 varieties. All are limited in quantity.
We have selected auspicious plants to wish for prosperity in the new year, as well as colorful berry-bearing plants.
① Hiiragi (Holly)

Hiiragi, with its distinctive jagged leaves.
As a symbol of the holiday season, it also has the flower meaning "family happiness" in the West.
Purchase here. (Size: Small, Pot color: Tetsuaka)
② Kuromatsu (Japanese Black Pine)

Kuromatsu, a classic bonsai species, possesses a unique presence that combines strength and charm.
Its evergreen leaves and long lifespan make it a symbol of good luck. It is also familiar today as one of the "Three Friends of Winter" (pine, bamboo, and plum), maintaining its beautiful appearance even in the cold winter.
Purchase here. (Sizes: Extra Small, Small; Pot colors: Aogin, Kurokai)
③ Kamatsuka Kokemomo (Cotoneaster)

Kamatsuka Kokemomo, an evergreen tree native to Taiwan, has a somewhat oriental atmosphere.
Small white flowers bloom in spring, and the berries turn red from late summer to autumn. The best time to see them is from December to January.
Purchase here. (Size: Medium, Pot color: Wakakusa)
④ Goyomatsu (Japanese White Pine)

As its name suggests, Goyomatsu, with its leaves bundled in fives, is a conifer indigenous to Japan that is considered auspicious for bringing good fortune in business, thanks to a pun on its name ("goyo wo matsu" meaning "waiting for important business").
Small pine cones may appear from autumn to winter.
Purchase here. (Size: Medium, Pot color: Sumi)
⑤ Yabukoji (Ardisia japonica)

Yabukoji, known as "Yamatachibana" in the "Manyoshu" poetry collection, has been cherished by people since ancient times.
In winter, its red berries hang adorably, and it is also an auspicious plant, displayed as "Juryo" (ten ryō, a unit of currency) for the New Year.
Purchase here. (Size: Medium, Pot color: Shiro)
⑥ Asebi (Japanese Andromeda)

Asebi, a classic popular branch material. In early spring, the sight of its bell-shaped reddish-purple flowers blooming in clusters is magnificent.
This tree species can be enjoyed throughout the year, with reddish new shoots in early summer and glossy leaves from mid-summer onwards.
Purchase here. (Size: Large, Pot color: Hyōsei)
⑦ Senjumaru

Senjumaru, a type of Kuromatsu (Japanese Black Pine), has a 'yatsubusa' (multi-branched) characteristic, meaning its branches divide finely.
Its charm lies in its vigorously growing leaves and the rugged texture of its trunk. We have prepared an extra-large size that exudes a sense of majesty.
Purchase here. (Size: Extra-large, Pot color: Dōkuro)
